Paper trading → Live
Paper trading uses real market prices with virtual funds — the safest way to validate a strategy.
Why paper first
- Watch how the strategy behaves under real volatility without spending a cent.
- Fix bad parameters or ineffective risk controls before it matters.
In the setup wizard
When onboarding, "Run mode" is set to Paper trading by default (you can switch to live with one tap).
What you see
- A live strategy card shows a
PAPER badge while running in simulation. - Switch anytime via the "Run mode" setting.
Switching to live
Switching triggers a two-step confirmation:
- Position handling: choose to zero out or keep current paper positions.
- Credibility check: if the strategy's latest backtest shows high PBO, you'll confirm again and see the backtest evidence.
Review, then confirm to go live.
The right cadence
- Backtest qualifies (low PBO, solid OOS).
- Paper trade for 7+ days and check consistency with the backtest.
- Go live with a small position, then scale up.
If you skip steps 2 or 3, think twice before going live.
